Falmouth Exeter Plus (FX Plus) delivers shared services for Falmouth University and the University of Exeter in Cornwall. The Penryn Campus is a modern, purpose‑built university site developed from 2000 onwards. Today it hosts around 6,000 students across contemporary academic buildings and award‑winning landscaped grounds.
Penryn Campus took a long-term strategic approach to reduce carbon emissions, cut energy costs, and transition the site toward Net Zero by deploying a multi‑technology decarbonisation approach combining solar PV, wind generation, commercial and residential heat pumps, and modern grid‑management systems.
ZLC Energy have evaluated their energy and carbon footprint and worked with FX Plus to develop and deploy a strategy of Rooftop Solar PV, whilst managing their complicated grid connection via a High Voltage Export Limitation Scheme. We have developed a wind turbine project to provide more clean power to the campus.
We have successfully tendered and delivered a range of Heat Pump pilot projects across the Academic and Residential estate to provide proof of concept prior to wider deployment. We provide aftercare to ensure all our installations deliver their planned benefits into the future.
