About Fermoys Garden Centre

Fermoys Garden Centre is a large independent garden centre near Newton Abbott. The site includes a farm shop, deli, pet shop, butchers, and a café. The site has a high energy demand, accompanied by significant associated energy costs.

What was their goal?

The company sought to meet its environmental targets, specifically for carbon reduction, as well as generally. They also wanted to control the increasingly high energy costs at the Garden Centre whilst investing in the future. Finally, they sought to improve their marketing reach while also benefiting from a strong environmental policy.

How did we help?

ZLC Energy designed and installed a 250kW ground-mounted Solar PV system on a redundant seed trial site to reduce carbon and provide optimum return on investment. We also installed LED lighting to improve energy efficiency on-site. As a result of Fermoy’s satisfaction with us, we are now collaborating with the company to explore additional ways to reduce energy demand, including the installation of biomass boilers, insulation, and heat pumps.
